I Slept On Your Pillow

I slept on your pillow last night, I dreamed you were near,

I dreamed that a simple wish could make you appear,

My answer was emptiness, I could not be sure

If time is a bandit, or time is a cure.

So lonely these midnight hours, with no one to share

A room filled with memories of you everywhere,

I needed your tenderness, to whisper your name,

I slept on your pillow last night, my heart was to blame.

My heart was to blame, it sang with a voice so demanding,

Filled up my ears remembering when

You gave me your love, you gave me your sweet understanding,

Now...here I am, by myself again.

We lay undivided, my head at your breast,

I said all the things I had left unexpressed,

Our hearts worked together, my love, they beat as a team,

But ‘twas only your pillow last night, ‘twas only my dream,

‘Twas only your pillow last night, ‘twas only my dream.
